By the end of this level, you will be able to understand and use familiar everyday vocabulary and expressions. You will be able to introduce yourself and give and understand personal details and ask questions about where people live, their hobbies, their families, homes and jobs. You will be able to communicate in simple sentences and understand people if they talk slowly and clearly and are sympathetic speakers and listeners.
By the end of this level you will be able to understand and use sentences and common expressions relating to everyday situations. You will be able to talk about your town and your country and you will be able to speak about present, future and past events using simple phrases and sentences.
By the end of this level you will understand and speak about familiar situations that regularly occur in everyday life. You will be able to speak and write connected text about familiar topics and situations. You will be able to describe experiences, events, hopes and dreams and you will be able to express your opinions as well as give reasons and explanations for them.
Intermediate Level B1/B2
By the end of this level you should be able to understand the main ideas of complex texts and interact with others with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that enables satisfactory interaction with native speakers. You will be able to produce longer text on a wide range of subjects, using more complex sentences, and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options. You will be able to understand speech spoken at a normal rate.
Upper-Intermediate B2/C1 Level
By the end of this level you will be able to understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. You will be able to express yourself fluently and spontaneously without much hesitation. You will use the language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. You will write clear, well-structured, detailed texts on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices. You will be able to understand lectures and discussions.
By the end of this level, you will be able to understand with ease virtually everything you hear or read. You will be able to express yourself spontaneously, fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in more complex situations. You will be able to write summaries, reports and accounts and present arguments coherently in essay format.
All teaching and learning materials are included in your course fee. Long-term students are given a complimentary copy of the coursebook when you start your course.
Our General English courses run throughout the year and students can enrol on any Monday or Wednesday. If you need to arrive on any other day, let us know and we can be flexible.
The school closes for Easter and Christmas holidays and holiday dates in 2016 – 17 are:
